Who would have thought that Brett and I would be where we are today? Not us. Life has a way of surprising you, and making you a little bit crazy. Lucky for us, with all the crazy we have a hint of sanity!

Milk duds
Today Lexy was extremely sleepy, and really grouchy, and we were on our way to pick Dillan up from preschool. She did not want to go, so she kept saying, "I hate Dillan." So, after hearing her say it a few too many times, I told her if she says she hates someone again I would wash her mouth out with soap. She started to cry and said, "No, don't wash my mouth out with soap, wash it out with milk duds!"

Our first week with 3
This week has been insane, and while we have really enjoyed having a new child, we are glad that the week is over. Derrick has been a blessing and a joy. Brett went back to work this week, still on crutches, but only one now! Yeah! I am trying to work, with very little success. The kids love their new brother, Dillan sings songs to him, and Lexy smothers him with kisses and hugs.

Derrick day 2
Well, he is not as puffy any more, and is getting cuter. His little personality is starting to show as well. He got really mad a few times today when I did not get him fed fast enough, or he had an air bubble. He has a good little cry. Dillan warmed up to him considerably and Alexis is still in love with her new baby brother. We tried to take a family photo, but with three little ones it did not turn out that well.

Derrick Brett Yerkes
We had our baby! His name is Derrick Brett Yerkes. He was born at 3:21 pm on January 2nd, 2009. He was the 7th baby of the year at the AF hospital. He looks a lot like his brother did at birth, but he is blonde. He has chipmunk cheeks, as you can see. He weighed 8 lbs 4oz. He did not want to cry, but he ate really well right away. He is so sweet. Alexis was really happy to have a baby brother, and could not get enough of him. Dillan was more reserved, and wants his name to be Tyler. We are so thrilled to have a sweet boy. We are in the hospital until Sunday, so feel free to visit. Just give us a call so we can tell you the room number and security code. More pictures coming soon.
